Strategic's Web DCS Selected for
IBM iSeries B2B Team for Extreme Business

Strategic's Dealer Communications System for the Web has been selected for the IBM iSeries B2B Team for Extreme Business.

The iSeries 400 B2B Team is a select group of business-to-business and business-to-consumer Solution Developer applications, running on IBM iSeries 400 (AS/400) servers, that allow business to extend their core applications to the Web, improving both internal and external communications throughout the supply chain.

Strategic's Dealer Communication System for the Web (Web DCS), a business-to-business application for the distribution operations of motor vehicle manufacturers, extends the manufacturer's operations systems out to the dealers. Functions such as vehicle distribution, warranty administration, and parts distribution are pushed out to the dealerships. Web DCS allows centralized management of content and data, so that dealers always have access to up-to-the-minute information, without the need to rely on outdated printed information.

The ability to use any standard Web browser as a user interface helps manufacturers and dealers enjoy significant cost savings on telecommunications over traditional dial-up applications and reduced support costs over client-side applications.

Web DCS, a part of the Strategic Motor Vehicle Family of Systems, is implemented using LANSA for the Web, and has been recognized in publications including Internet Week, Midrange Systems, VAR Business, and Knowledge Management World.

Current Web DCS customers include Qvale Automotive Group, a startup company that distributes the Mangusta sports car; dirt-bike manufacturer KTM SportMotorcycles, and Toyota de Puerto Rico, which has implemented Web DCS for its parts distribution function. Other WebDCS installations scheduled for this year are Extreme Companies Ducati North America (motorcycles) and AM General (manufacturer of the HUMMER sport-utility vehicle).

"Our customers buy Web DCS for several reasons," says John Myers, Strategic's president. "They understand the many years of motor vehicle industry experience reflected in the application, they value the cost savings, and they appreciate the rock-solid stability that the iSeries 400 platform provides. Our customers want to focus on their business, not on technology operations. They expect 24x7x365 reliability without a large operations staff, and the iSeries 400 meets this expectation."
